Broken Heart of Rogers Park

Broken Heart of Rogers Park Screenshot of The "Broken Heart" of Rogers Park this morning.

I've received a lot of questions and comments regarding Craig Gernhardt's The Broken Heart of Rogers Park today. I haven't spoke with Craig today, so I can't tell you what is going on this time.

I can show you what happened last time:

The Bloggers of Rogers Park

I have been notified of an interesting article about the blogs of Rogers Park which included Rogers Park in 1,000 Words, The Broken Heart of Rogers Park and Al Iverson's Bacon Rodeo.

The following is a sample of the article:

Bill Morton posts amazing pictures of community events and businesses on his blog, Rogers Park in 1000 Words. He also regularly posts links to local real estate news and current events, as well as speaking openly about his dislike of Alderman Joe Moore. This will be an interesting blog to watch as the election approaches.

You can read the article in it's entirety here:

1/2 dozen election cycles

I saw something on Craig's blog that said "1/2 dozen election cycles".

That statement reminded me of a box of Alderman Joe Moore's donuts.

The Broken Heart of Rogers Park

Our tour of Rogers Park blogs would not be complete without this one included.

I remember a time before I started blogging. I was working very hard for nearly two years to renovate a beautiful 1920's vaudeville theater, The Adelphi. Back then, when I first learned of the threat of demolition, Craig Gernhardt supported the efforts of my non-profit organization Citizens for the Adelphi Theater and got the word out to the people of Rogers Park through his blog, The 'Broken Heart' of Rogers Park. With his support, and many others, we were able to get over 1,000 petition signatures in favor of saving the Adelphi Theater.

Later, I wrote my own blog. After 283,420 visitors and almost 1,700 articles later, here we are at Rogers Park in 1,000 Words!

The following are a few recent posts specifically about Rogers Park from The Broken Heart:

Dangling shoes on Glenwood and Touhy

On 10/07/07 at 12:51pm, I spotted these new, never worn or even laced white Nike's hanging from the electrical lines on Touhy and Glenwood.

Craig Gernhardt asked on his blog:

"What's Bill Morton know that we don't? Bill seems to think when there's a pair of hanging tennis shoes from the electrical lines, that's a sign a drug house is near. More specific, a crack den".

I have also photographed dangling shoes, on Ridge near Chase and in the alley behind Park Gyros beside Touhy Park.

The 'Broken Heart' of Rogers Park experiences some downtime.

Broken Heart of Rogers Park Broken Heart of Rogers Park

The Broken Heart of Rogers Park wen't down for a little while. It was just long enough for us all to wonder, "What's going on here, Craig?".

It was down when I usually have my morning coffee at work while reading The 'Broken Heart' of Rogers Park.

Here is one of the e-mails sent to Craig from a concerned reader:

From: Kristofer Luck
Sent: Thursday, August 16, 2007 11:35 AM
To: Craig Gernhardt

Subject: Morse hellhole "Hey Craig, What's going on? I tried to read the hell hole this morning and it looks like I'm not invited. Are you aware that your blog is now private? Let me know what's going on.

Thanks,

Craig explained in his blog he "had some technical difficulties with the blog this morning and got them all resolved in a timely fashion. Much like Joe Moore should be doing in this ward. Fixing things that are broken". We are very happy that the 'Broken Heart', is no longer the 'Broken Blog'.
