Dangling shoes on Glenwood and Touhy

On 10/07/07 at 12:51pm, I spotted these new, never worn or even laced white Nike's hanging from the electrical lines on Touhy and Glenwood.

Craig Gernhardt asked on his blog:

"What's Bill Morton know that we don't? Bill seems to think when there's a pair of hanging tennis shoes from the electrical lines, that's a sign a drug house is near. More specific, a crack den".

I have also photographed dangling shoes, on Ridge near Chase and in the alley behind Park Gyros beside Touhy Park.

No Exit Cafe

Years ago, maybe over a decade ago, I used to attend thier open mic and poetry nights.

It was a nice little place.

Nowadays, the place seems to always be closed except for special meetings and small events.

Historical note: It's known as the oldest cafe in Chicago.... even though it is now a shell of what it once was.

Welcome to the Glenwood Avenue Arts District

And if your an airhead that's trying to be trendy, you can even call this section of the hood "Ropa".
