A picture is worth 1,000 words ... especially in Rogers Park.
The Loyola Park Advisory Council hosts their annual Black History Month event today to celebrate the diverse elements of Black history and culture.
There will be music, dancing, readings, and refreshments. Special guests include retired Buffalo soldier of the 6th Infantry and Black centenarian, Harold Bellamy and Tuskegee airman, Rufus Hunt.

The closing of Jarvis Station would be detrimental to our local businesses.
I have organized hundreds of events in support of the Jarvis Square businesses. At roughly 10 to 40 visitors to Rogers Park per event, the local businesses in Jarvis would definitely lose potential new customers and sales.
Another point that most have not considered, is that once a person discovers the existence of Jarvis area businesses, they have the opportunity to return for meetings and lunches independently. This has happened more times than you may consider.
These customers very often use the Jarvis Red Line rather than driving due to the overly developed population density of our neighborhood.
