With a nod to the historic past of this grand facility, Mayne Stage features a restaurant (Act One Pub) and performance space that reflects the unique and diverse history of Rogers Park. Mayne Stage is happy to present a variety of terrific acts in its 230-seat multipurpose entertainment venue.
Comprising three of Texas's most revered songwriters—Joe Ely, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and Butch Hancock—The Flatlanders are an iconic country band that first collaborated in the early 1970s. They have reunited over the years for a string of well-crafted alternative country albums, including the latest, The Odessa Tapes, which was originally recorded in 1972 in Odessa, Texas, and thought to be lost.
They were an insider's secret during the golden era of Austin music and recorded one album together; it disappeared almost immediately, but rare copies circulated from hand to hand for years afterward. The three individual Flatlanders, meanwhile, had gone on to solo careers as some of Texas's top singer-songwriters. Lately they've begun playing occasional shows, imbued with a new sense of what they shared and of what each member—cosmic cowboy Gilmore, rocker Ely, and songcrafter Hancock—brought to the group.
Almost 30 years ago, The Flatlanders helped pave the way for today's trendy alt-country movement with a novel amalgam of country, folk, blues and rock styles. Considered the country-music equivalent of punk-rock legends Rocket from the Tombs — more often heard about than heard, their reputation enhanced by their subsequent individual careers. Then in 1990, Rounder released those early recordings as More a Legend Than a Band, and Robert Redford asked the Flatlanders to reconvene to perform a song on the soundtrack to the 1998 film The Horse Whisperer.

It was like nothing else in country music at the time — not like the mainstream Music Row big productions of Loretta Lynn, Conway Twitty, and Tammy Wynette, not even like the more rock-and-roll-influenced "outlaw" music of Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, and Willie Nelson.”- The Boston Phoenix

Rogers Park Chamber of Commerce 4 Year Anniversary Celebration.

All Rogers Park businesses, organizations, institutions, community leaders, and residents are invited to meet and greet as the Rogers Park Chamber of Commerce celebrates four years of supporting and unifying Rogers Park businesses.

This event will be hosted at Quest Network Services, 7301 N. Sheridan Road. Guests will be warmly welcomed to short (10-15 minutes) presentations by local businesses and service organizations and served tastes from restaurants and cafes of our neighborhood.

This is a public event on Saturday, April 13th, 2013 from 12 noon - 7pm. RSVP calls to (773) 850-0049 are encouraged. RSVP's to facebook and walk-ins are OK. This is a free community event.
