The Rogers Park/West Ridge Historical Society are in need of volunteer docents on Saturdays and Sundays between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Duties include greeting visitors, showing them around the small museum, telling them about the society and upcoming events, encouraging them to become members and/or volunteer on Collections, Membership, or Events Committees.
Volunteers do not need to be experts on neighborhood history but can refer questions to the Society's many resources. Docents work 2-3 hours each week or on one or two weekends a month. Start right away and you can take advantage of special perqs at Chicago museums during April, which is Volunteer Recognition Month in Chicago.
