Today in Rogers Park - July 26th, 2011

Today in Rogers Park is a series to inform our community of relevant daily events, including the arts, entertainment, presentations and community meetings. - Bill Morton

Rogers Park Garden Group 5th Annual Garden Meander

They have put up with pernicious possums and pachysandra, managed mulberries and malamutes, even raised radicchio and raspberries.  All the while, the gardeners on this year's meander along the 1600 and 1700 blocks of Jarvis Avenue have lovingly tended their plots--whether parkway or patio-side containers--over many seasons.
Come learn from your neighbors what has worked and what hasn't while enjoying a summer evening stroll through Jargowood.  The meander features a record ten gardens this year, but they are close together in a two-block stretch of Jarvis Avenue by Touhy Park.  The evening will conclude with a back-yard reception at the final garden on the meander, and once again Food for Thought will graciously supply light hors d'oeuvres.

Tuesday, July 26, 6-8:45 pm

Start: 1745 West Jarvis Avenue (just east of Clark, across from Rogers Park Fruit Market parking lot)

--Registration opens at 5:45 pm and closes promptly at 6:45 pm
--Gardens open from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm
--Reception from 7:15 pm until 8:45 pm
