Neighborhood Notices

Community notices were distributed via of flyers, emails and word of mouth all along Sheridan Road stating concern over new proposal to increase density on 7315 N. Sheridan Road.

"Dear Neighbors,
Alderman Moore has scheduled a neighborhood meeting this Wednesday, May 21 at 7:00 PM at The Lake Shore Nursing Home (at the corner of Touhy and Sheridan Road) to discuss rezoning the parking lot adjacent to the 7301 N. Sheridan Road building from its current residential zoning which allows a 4 story 18 unit development to commercial zoning which would allow a 7 story 44 unit rental building (with unit parking) along with commercial space on the first floor which would not have any parking.

The high rise building which would be in violation of current zoning laws would only worsen our neighborhood density and our parking problems and put additional stress on already over stressed and very limited resources.

In addition the high rise rental building at 7301 N. Sheridan which has been problematic for our neighborhood would not only loose their only 22 parking spots which are on this site but now would be competing with another high rise for tenants.

Also, if we allow the "up-zoning" of the property at this site it will allow future developers to more easily obtain "up-zoning" at other available sites in our neighborhood such as the site of the old North Shore School creating a dangerous snowball effect. Defeating this up-zoning is crucial to the health and survival of our neighborhood as we know and love it.

It is very important that everyone show up at this meeting and be heard because Alderman Moore will make his decision on the zoning change request based on his interpretation of what the neighborhood wants.

Let your voice be heard !!!"
