From our friends at Flatts and Sharpe Music Co.
Christmas music’s coming to town!
Without a moment to lose, the Flatts and Sharpe book room is now featuring a selection of high-quality, hand-picked, Yuletide tunes for you and your family.
We’re stocking holiday-friendly fake books, carol anthologies, guitar transcriptions, beginner-appropriate piano music, two-tunes-in-one sheet music, and other priceless bits of early-winter musical goodness. Come check it out! Remember also that if you can’t find a tune you want on the shelves, we can order it for you, or even download a printable copy straight from the publisher.
You might not have known it, but we carry lots of band instrument accessories. If you need a strap for your saxophone, valve oil for your trumpet, or a stand for your clarinet, we’ve got you covered. We have maintenance kits for all sorts of different horns, a wide variety of reeds, brass mouthpieces, and lots of sheet music and fake books to satisfy all your jamming needs.
Come here to find the perfect gift for that wind or brass player on your holiday shopping list.
Don’t know what to give your musician for the holidays? How about a gift certificate!
Finally, we’re just weeks away from the Second Annual Flatts & Sharpe Recital. We’ll be at the Morseland on Saturday, December 6, from 5 pm until 8. Please join us and see how much fun learning and playing music can be.
Call or stop by for more information.

1221 W. Sherwin Ave - Interior Demolition Starts in 20 minutes
The residents are out, and whatever was left over is to be removed and destroyed in 20 minutes.
I spoke with a manager of the gut-rehab project, and he stated that it should be complete betweeen 5 or 6 months.
Former residents stated that they expect to return in April '09 to a renovated building, with higher rent.
Another resident stated that the building located at 1221 W. Sherwin Avenue "was paid-off free and clear" before the interior demolition, "but they mortgaged the building, $6 million, for the renovation".

Message from 20% Theatre Company Chicago
Mr. Morton,
Hello! I ADORE your blog. Your photographs are fantastic. I am a part of an all women's theatre company called 20% Theatre Company Chicago. We are currently producing a world premiere play, called "Tester" which is written by company member Jennifer Dobby. The play takes place in current day Rogers Park. We are writing a blog about our rehearsal process, and I would love it if we could link to your blog for further understanding of the play and the context of the show.
Thank you,
Katy Hite

From our friends at Flatts & Sharpe Music Co.
"Hello friends of Flatts & Sharpe!
As usual, we have a number of exciting things going on here at the store. Our lesson program continues to grow and prosper, and we couldn’t be more proud of our wonderful students. We like to keep our teachers busy, and our new extra-large lesson room is ready for action, so please recommend us to your friends and family. Remember, we offer lessons on piano, percussion, drum-kit, and basically every string instrument (sorry!—no sitars or balalaikas).
On that topic, our annual recital is quickly approaching. This year we will be celebrating our students’ progress at the Morseland, on December 6. The festivities begin at 5 o’clock and run until around 8. Come join us for a great time!
The Music Hour, our new toddler program, is well underway, and has so far been super fun. It is designed for newborns to toddlers (up to four years old,) and brings music and books together in a cozy, relaxed environment. If you are not a parent yourself but have a toddler in your life, we have gift certificates available to give your friends or family. This is an exciting opportunity to turn little people on to music early, so sign up soon. There are only a few spots left!
For information on our rates, either for the Music Hour or for private lessons, check out our website—flattsandsharpe.com—or just stop by the store.
We’d love to see you"!
